SCANDINAVIAN SOCIETY FOR BIOMATERIALS 2019 CONFERENCE
12th–14th June 2019, Långvik Congress Wellness Hotel, Kirkkonummi, Finland
Scandinavian Society for Biomaterials 2019 Conference
Biomaterial applications: From study of fundamental cellular behaviours through to regenerative therapies
Wednesday 12th – Friday 14th June 2019
Långvik Congress Wellness Hotel, Kirkkonummi, Finland
On behalf of Scandinavian Society for Biomaterials (ScSB), we warmly welcome you to the tranquil archipelago setting of Långvik Congress Wellness Hotel (Kirkkonummi, Finland), only 30 minutes west of Helsinki city centre, for our 2019 conference.
ScSB holds an intimate annual conference each year in the Nordic & Baltic region, at which researchers and partners from industry gather to share their latest findings and innovations regarding biomaterials.
Our all-inclusive conferences include keynote presentations by renowned researchers with diverse expertise. They have a highly sociable atmosphere and are typically held in locations far enough from city centres to enable us to infuse the intensive scientific programme with enjoyable outdoor activities and relaxation.
This year’s theme is centred on the wide range of biomaterial applications, right through from their use for studying fundamental cellular behaviours such as mechanotransduction, through to their clinical applications in regenerative therapies. Six out of seven keynote speakers have already been confirmed:
|Prof. David Mooney
Harvard University & Wyss Institute
Hydrogels for molecular therapies
|Prof. Kristi Anseth
University of Colorado Boulder
Artificial extracellular niches
|Prof. Jonathan Knowles
UCL Eastman Dental Institute
Bioactive ceramics for tissue engineering
|Prof. Håkan Engqvist
Biomaterials synthesis & characterisation
|Assoc. Prof. Heli Skottman
University of Tampere
Ophthalmic regenerative medicine
|Prof. Markus Linder
Aalto University, Finland
Biomolecular & bioinspired materials
|Prof. Maria-Pau Ginebra
Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya
Biomimetic calcium phosphates
| ScSB Research Award Recipient
We hope that by covering a broad range of biomaterial topics, including material chemistry, synthesis, engineering, functionalisation and characterisation, as well as exploring their biological interactions and applications in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, our programme will draw interest from researchers in diverse fields relating to biomaterials research and development.
Another important aspect of the conference is the inclusion of industrial partners, not only through an exhibition, but also as integral contributors to our programme. We therefore welcome any potential sponsors looking to develop meaningful new relationships with researchers from across the Nordic & Baltic region and beyond to participate in ScSB 2019. Visit our Sponsorship page for more details.
